Alright, I guess it helped that he had connections and was a buddy of the King of France. But how did he get to be in such a relationship, wasn’t it because Louis agreed with Maddy that Jean was a musical genius?
@chelseagurl97 @chelseagurl97 Those are not real reasons to call him a genius. In order to arrive to the conclusion that anyone is a genius one needs to analyse an artist’s works and determined what made him great. Lully had talent but there were other composers who had a lot more talent than he. Why were people not attracted to them… because they didn’t have powers or connections. Look at Mozart, he was way better composer than Cimarosa and Salieri together, but not a lot of people cared.

I don’t know if Maddy was aware that Lully was a musical genius. (I’m not saying he wasn’t) But the girl wanted to be near Lully because he had power.
